Wintertime in the Riverland

sunrise 2 simone picWe all know how fantastic it is in the Riverland during the summer, with the River and all the water sports, however the winter is even more special – and not as busy either!!!

There are many things to do and experience during the winter. Some of them being:

CanoeingKingston on Murray Park-Dec 2011 005

Grab a canoe and discover the birdlife and explore the Creek systems from our Park.  We are located in a perfect location to paddle your way through the backwaters of the Murray.  The birdlife here rivals any that you will see along the River

Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre

The wetlands are full of water and the birdlife is abundant.  Of course the Boardwalk is a perfect way to spend a few hours discovering this iconic Riverland Attraction.  After the walk, the adults can taste some of Banrock famous wines and sit down and all enjoy the local food in the Restaurant or just have a coffee and cake.

Monash Playground and Barmera Playspace

These two Playgrounds are located within a short drive from the Park and can keep the kids busy for hours with all the attractions that they offer.

Of course we can’t guarantee that you will catch anything, but isn’t half the fun trying!!  What better way to spend time than being down the River in the peace and quiet absorbing all the bird noises and watching the River pass by.

Lock 3

See the Lock in action, Whilst having a picnic on the beautiful lawned areas around the lock which has heaps of information about the River and the Floods.  You may be lucky enough to see a boat go through one whilst you are there.

The Park Facilities

The Park has facilities that will keep everyone happy.  We have an oval with football and soccer goals and a basketball hoop for the sporty types.  Or maybe bring your bocce along so the whole family can play.  The bike track around the Oval is level and safe for bikers of all ages and abilities.  The track is even wide enough for our Pedal Karts to be riden around.new oval pic

So what is stopping you.  Book now and experience this beautiful region in the winter.
