The attractive thing about caravanning and camping is that it can be enjoyed at any time of year.
Winter is no excuse to cease this pleasant pastime. You can go to the same region in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter yet get to experience it in four very vast ways.
Grasp the opportunity to view the Riverland in Winter – it can provide a number of benefits.
- No big crowds
- Off peak rates apply the majority of the time
- Use the time to test your caravan/tent equipment on a short trip – this is good preparation for longer holidays in warmer weather
- More activities can be undertaken as you don’t need to concern yourself with heat restrictions
- My favourite – no mozzies or flies to have to contend with
A caravan/camping trip provides the opportunity to socialize together in a natural outdoor setting away from everyday distractions.
Let us give you some food for thought about things to do while caravanning/camping during Winter in the Riverland……………….
The month of June is the perfect time to check out the well renowned S.A. Country Music Festival held in Barmera and surrounds. Days are spent being entertained outdoors in the winter sun that magically filters through the crisp morning mist, while the evening events are provided in warm cozy venues or around the ever enticing camp fire. Come on, warm your hands around a hot mug of soup while taking in the majority of the free entertainment provided. Put on the akubra hat, rug up and enjoy.
If country music isn’t your thing, how about experiencing the Moorook Music Festival? It’s a jam packed three days of live non-stop music variety – also held in June. Both events are family friendly.
Come and try a self-guided drive through our national parks. The drives are set-up to allow maximum viewing while being in the warmth and comfort of your own car or alternatively, to get the blood flow pumping, you may wish to take part in a relaxing bush walk, being captivated by the magnificent scenery, be it the red ochre cliffs of the Murray River, the haunting silence of the mallee or the abundant bird and wildlife.
You may wish to embark on Horse riding, Canoeing or Fishing. Ahhh the serenity of it all – it really can’t be beaten – enjoyable wholesome outdoor activities. Just forget all the hustle & bustle back home.
If you need a bit of down-time, the caravan park offers a fantastic large camp kitchen with it’s own combustion heater. Imagine sharing a few meals and yarns with the other campers whilst basking in the warmth and comfort.
We look forward to seeing you soon on your winter trip away.
